Nationaal park Bükk (79 km)

Bukk national park is situated centrally in Eger – the Tokaj wine region in the north east of Hungary. Bukk is the biggest national park in Hungary. It consists of hills and beech forests, and is situated between Szilvasvarad and Lillafured. Hungarian kings once came here regularly to hunt. Currently it is an owls paradise and the favourite destination for insect enthusiasts. The park was created in 1976 and has an extraordinary beech forest on the eastside of the Eger. The main characteristics are the different karst formations within the slate hills, with cases and ravines. The gathering of karst shapes, caves, canyons, striking rocks, of the bukk mountain range, and the curiosity of the vegetation, attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors annually.
